In Christ Alone

You know what, we definitely live in exciting and challenging times. This song has been playing over and over in my head - its old, but its words still ring true.

In Christ alone
I place my trust
And find my glory
In the power of the cross
In every victory
Let it be said of me
My source of strength
My source of hope
Is Christ alone

I found it a very real, very refreshing reminder that it should be in Christ alone that we place our trust, for he is the one that gives us strength and hope. He is the Most High, the one whose words will never return void. He is the one who is completely infallible. Psalms 20:7 says it so clearly -some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

And when this blows over, I have faith enough to say that the bride of Christ will neither be left broken nor bruised by this episode. In fact, she will be even stronger and even closer to Him, because it is from Him, and Him alone that we find our strength and our hope.

Normal state vs Fundamental state

"When we accept the world as it is (by living in the normal state), we deny our ability to see something better, & hence our ability to be something better. we become what we behold. what is not normal, is embracing the fact that another state exists."

Rescue, By Desperation Band

I'm not sure if this is an old or new song, but right now it's on my repeat.

I thought I'd just share it with guys, I'll post it up on gmail for you guys to download if you want it!

Rescue

You are the source of the life
I can't be left behind
No one else will do
I will take hold of You

I need You Jesus
To come to my rescue
Where else can I go
There's no other name by
Which I am saved
Capture me with grace
I will follow You

This world has nothing for me
I will follow You
This world has nothing for me
I will follow You.

And.. I'll be done with Soul Cravings by Erwin McManus when I get back. Let me know if you want to borrow it! Goes to the first person who comments for it here. =)

Love,
Christine

Free will

"Free will is not man's greatest weakness - it is man's greatest strength".

I have been told many times that if God didn't give man choice and free will, we wouldn't have sin in this world.

Yet, free will is man's greatest strength. For a man/woman that has a burning passion in his heart cannot be stopped. Mother Theresa chose Africa. Nelson Mandela chose prison. Without choice and free will, they would not have achieved what they had.

Oh, and I want to leave a link to a very thought-provoking story about doing devotions - and showing up. http://www.netten.net/~kenn/table4_2.htm

Passion!

"If you don't have passion worth dying for, you have nothing worth living for"

"If you are not willing to suffer for something, you really aren't passionate about anything"

So, is there a passion/drive deep in our heart? If yes, is it worth living for? Does it put a smile on God's face?

Credit Anyone?

Let's get this blog rolling.

I learnt this from Hillsong by Robert Barriger (one of my heroes!)

"A Lot Can Be Done If No One Cares Who Gets The Credit."

Found this to be so true in the story he shared. His church have given out thousands of free wheelchairs in Peru and been an amazing impact on that country. When they first got those huge amounts of wheelchairs, they wondered how to distribute them to the needy. In the end, their solution was the mayors. The mayors were asked to distribute the wheelchairs FREE, in return that the Gospel could be preached. BUT, the mayors were allowed the credit. So imagine headlines telling of philanthropic mayors - that was what happened. But the fact that was needs were met, the disabled got their wheelchairs and the Gospel was preached to thousands. All because no one cared who got the credit. But that God's heartbeat and human needs were placed first above all.
